Athirapally Falls, is situated in Athirapally Panchayat in Chalakudy Taluk of Thrissur District in Kerala, India on the Chalakudy River, which originates from the upper reaches of the Western Ghats at the entrance to the Sholayar ranges. It is the largest waterfall in Kerala, which stands tall at 80 feet. Just a short drive from Athirapally to the Vazhachal falls, which is close to dense green forests that are home to many endangered and endemic species of flora and fauna.


Athirapally Falls is the largest waterfall in Kerala and is nicknamed "The Niagara of South India.

How to enjoy at Athirapally

  • Depends on your budget you can select any of the above mentioned travel option. You can plan one full day for the Athirapally and the places near by.
  • Athirapally will be closed at 6pm, so try to come as early as possible. The entry ticket for Athirapally is 15 rupees.
  • Come early to avoid crowd and get a beautiful pictures
  • There is locker room available at Athirapally .You can keep all your luggage. They charge 5 rupees for helmet and bags
  • There are multiple view points available at Athirapally . First plan to go down side to see bottom of the waterfalls. You will get mesmerizing view of waterfalls which is better than any other view
  • Plan to visit during monsoon or just after monsoon to see real Beauty of the waterfalls
  • In order to reach bottom of water falls, you need to walk down around 10 to 15 mins. It wont be difficult but good to expect some walk down and up and prepare for jt
  • Its very slippery during monsoon time as u go down. so walk carefully
  • During monsoon the water level will be heavy, you may get wet as you stand near the waterfalls. You can bring umbrella or some towels in case you became wet
  • Enjoy the beauty and live the moment after taking bunch of pictures of photos for our social media friends
